Excursion "Zrug Lake": The High-Mountain Diamond of Alania
Zrug Lake is the largest natural lake in the mountainous part of North Ossetia, located in the picturesque and wild Zrug Gorge at an altitude of 3,130 meters above sea level. A true gift for connoisseurs of untouched nature and lovers of active mountain trekking.

What you will see during the excursion.

• Alpine Meadows and Panoramas: the lake's surroundings are incredibly photogenic, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding ridges.
• Glacial Origin: the lake is of glacial origin and is located on the eastern slope of Mount Dzedo. A small glacier flows into it. The water in the lake is pure and cold.

What awaits you:

• Start of the Journey: the route starts from "Zrug" gorge. We hike 5 km to the lake one way with an elevation gain of 690m.
• Comfortable Transport: we use our vehicles to reach the starting point of the route.
• Caring Guides: our guides are experts in the local area who will share not only facts but also captivating legends of Ossetia with you.
• Stops for Photos and Rest: restroom stops and time for lunch in national cafes and restaurants with mountain views (additional payment on-site) are provided.
• Remoteness and Seclusion: Zrug Gorge is less visited than Tsey or Kurtatinskoye, guaranteeing tranquility and the opportunity to enjoy nature in solitude.
